If you're anything like me, you've accumulated a variety of chemicals masked as skin-care over the years. In this new decade, leave behind the harmful ingredients and painful skin. Our mask consists of all natural, organic ingredients you can be proud of putting on your skin.
Here's how to make Matchasita's favourite DIY Super Green Mask for clear, rejuvenated skin. (Scroll to the bottom if you'd like a condensed list of the ingredients.)
1. Indian Healing Clay
This five-star rated ingredient deserves its hype. Indian Healing Clay is an all-natural calcium bentonite clay and will serve as both a scrub and a base for our super green mask. The clay will cleanse your skin by sloughing off the dull outer layer and pulling the impurities from your pores like a magnet. It has a workable texture that will melt easily with the other ingredients to create a smooth consistency for the mask. Sidenote: Slight redness of skin is normal with Indian Healing Clay and will disappear in about 30 mins.
2 Tablespoon Scoops of Clay.
2. Unicity's Chlorophyll Powder
One of the key ingredients that makes this a super green mask is a scoop of Unicity's Super Green. Unicity's organically-cultivated chlorophyllin powder derives from European-grown alfalfa, a herb commonly used as medicine. Chlorophyllin is a water-soluble form of chlorophyll, which means you can meet at least half your daily quota of vegetables if you choose to consume it as a liquid. However, this powder's purpose today is to aid us in the creation of our powerful, super green mask.
1 Teaspoon of Powder.
3. Ripen Bananas
The more ripe the banana, the better. Bananas have anti-inflammatory properties that calms redness and soothes the skin. Bananas are loaded with vitamins and minerals, particularly Vitamin B6, A, C, potassium, and magnesium. Save the banana skin and store in your freezer for future use. You can rub the frozen peels onto blemishes and repeat a few times a day, for several days, to significantly reduce both acne and acne scars.
1 Mashed or Pureed Banana.
4. rosehip Oil
Since we want to maintain a glowing, youthful appearance, Teddie's Rosehip Oil belongs in our mixture. This organic, cold-pressed rosehip seed oil slows down the aging process while keeping skin well-moisturised. When used regularly, it heals scars, keeps skin supple, and works as a strong barrier against harsh, biting weather.
1 or 2 Drops of Oil.
Uh-huh, honey! Honey isn't the most effective against acne, but it is effective as a skin-moisturising humectant. Some properties in honey also make it anti-bacterial and self-preserving. Y.S. Eco Bee Farms's Raw Honey contains alive enzymes, minerals, and maximum levels of antioxidants. Their honey isn't manipulated to have a soft, spreadable consistency. Raw really means raw with them, and we hope that doesn't scare you away. This honey holds all the benefits we want in our mask.
2 Teaspoon of Honey.
condensed list of ingredients
Indian Healing Clay -- 2 Tablespoons
Unicity Chlorophyll Powder -- 1 Teaspoon
Ripe Bananas -- 1 Whole, Mashed/Pureed
Organic Rosehip Oil -- 1 or 2 Drops
Honey -- 2 Teaspoons
Mix the dry ingredients into a bowl, followed by the wet ingredients. The amount of each can be tweaked to suit your liking. If you want a thicker mask --- add more clay, chlorophyll, or bananas. If you want a thinner mask --- add more honey, or oil.
You can place all the ingredients into a bowl, a blender, or a mixer, depending on whether you want to mix using arm or machine strength.
Once you've achieved the desired consistency, transfer the mask to a container and store in your refrigerator. After all, it is natural and you want to preserve it when it's not being used.
If you find that the wet ingredients have separated from the dry, give it a mix before using it. I recommend you use the mask every other day.
Match-ah!'s Super Green Mask has a shelf life of two weeks. Throw the mask out if you find it has perished sooner.
